It's Been a While

I have been wanting to blog for a while but did not have anything to say. I have not had my camera, and what's a post without pictures!

Adam and I just got back from a one night get-a-way for our anniversary. We went to the Mount Magazine Lodge for our get-a-way.  We were both so excited and decided we would get there early so we could go hiking before we had to check-in. Well, when we got there we were a little shocked............
As you can tell it was so foggy, we could not see 20 feet in front of us. We thought about hiking other trails but since we couldn't see we thought that would be a bad idea!! When we left to go on our hike we passed a father and daughter and had to ask where the entrance to the trail was because we couldn't see! They pointed us in the right direction, and off we went. Strangely when we reached the highest point there was the father/daughter duo. The strange part was we had not passed them on the way up.  We got them to take our picture and then they wanted us to take their picture.  To make a long story short the father told us about the short-cut they had taken and beaten us to the top. He asked if we wanted to follow them down since it was quicker.     PAUSE...(Let me just tell you it wasn't until we were half way down the short-cut, following a strange man with his daughter in the rear, that I thought this might be a bad idea. They might be leading us to a spot where they will murder us and leave us for the bears!!! I guess we felt safe since had a GPS.... :O) I tend to be a little too trusting !
Luckily they were not serial killers and led us back to the natural trail.  After we departed from our new friends, I looked at Adam and asked him if he was leery about our decision to follow strangers. He had the same feeling but just went with it! Guess we are both too trusting!

We had such a great time and just enjoyed each other's company! It was a beautiful place and we had an awesome room. I am going to post pictures only because if you are wanting to visit they don't show pictures on their website.

This was our view when we got there.
And this was our view the next day.
Such an improvement!

4 Great years and more to come!

Until Next Time,
Averie

Happy Anniversary

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, ADAM!

Four years ago today, Adam and I were married at my parents home in Lewisville, AR.  A lot has happened in four years.  We added Hoss to our family, my parents are selling their house in Lewisville, my sister had two more children, we've been through 4 Harvest, and we continue to see God's blessings throughout our lives.  I pray that Adam and I will always look to God for guidance through the good times and the bad.  I also pray that Adam and I can be Christian parents that raise a God fearing child who will serve the one that died for him!

Thank you Jesus,
Averie

Shin-Dig

Over the weekend we had a community/church Fall/Halloween Party! We have such a great time in our small community especially with church friends.  Since Ross is not old enough for the trick-or-treating thing, we decided to dress him up anyway and take him to the party.  His Halloween costume has been passed down from cousin to cousin. (My how I love hand-me-downs!) Mom made the costume, and I think she did a great job.

There were some sweet babies there in their cute costumes!
Lil' Monkey
Sweet Elephant

This young cowboy was going to another Halloween party and Adam loaned him his costume.  I think it is HILARIOUS how the costume fits him perfect!! The little cowboy legs look so real on him.  It's more believable on him than Adam.

It's nice to have so many baby-sitters around that will carry "HOSS" around for a while. Especially when I've been holding him on my hip for the past hour...It wares a momma out! I can't imagine having twins. God bless their souls and hips, arms, back, etc..!

I have to admit our little Fall/Halloween Shin-Dig was a wee bit different than your normal Halloween Party.  Yes, we did roast wienies and have hot chocolate, but we also sang Hymns! We had our own entertainment, consisting of our Grandpa B and other friends from church.  We sat around the fire and sang a long! (OK, maybe everybody didn't sing along including Cousin J sitting on the hay bale...but it was still a joyful sound!) :o)

Happy Fall/Halloween!

Running Scared

This time of year makes me jump for joy. It is so nice to be able to go outside and run on the farm. I thought it was a good idea last week to take a run after the sun went down. Adam had come in and went running right at dusk. When he came back he said "There is a full moon. You can go running." I went. Let's just say I probably clocked my best time ever, because I was running for my life!! I just knew that I was going to step on a snake, get attacked by the birds I was jumping up, or be attacked by a pack of wild dogs or wolves.  OK, I know that is a little extreme, but that is the only thing that was going through my head. I kept looking behind me just to make sure some animal was not right on my heels.  I know people run on a full  moon but they run on paved streets with street lights, not on dirt roads around burnt rice fields. Note to self: Do not run at night!

Another thing! Something is up with my hair.  I don't know if I have fried it when using my flat iron or I am sprouting. But I have these little twigs of hair around my bang line( I assume you know where that is) that are extremely short. It looks like I have cut my hair or I burnt the ends off.  My SIL said I was growing new hair, something to do with pregnancy.  Anybody go through the same thing? Just wondering... It seems like nothing is the same since giving birth.  Who knows.

But I do know one thing: I am going gray! I love my mother but she and her brother unfortunately gave me the gray hair gene and most likely I will be gray by the time I'm forty! Thanks MOM!!

Quality Time

Since harvest has finished, Adam has been getting home before 9:00pm and is able to spend some quality father-son time with Ross.  It is the sweetest thing to see Ross's huge smile when his Dad walks in from work.
Ross is in-love with his bouncy chair.  I believe that child would bounce all day long if I would leave him in it.  It is such a good baby sitter while I'm trying to pick up or just wanting to sit down for a while.  He likes to bounce with his hands hanging out of the leg wholes. Don't ask me why, but they say some children are a little 'different'. :O)

"Look Mom! No hands!"

I've been watching Sister Wives and Hoarders this week. Let's just say that I am so happy with my 'sanity'! After I watch Hoarders I look around my house and think "maybe I should pick up a little!" WOW....On Hoarders there was this women who was dying of cancer and her home was stuffed to the rim with stuff and rat poop, because at one time she raised Rats. Yes, you are reading that correctly she bred and sold Rats and some got loose in her house and because of all the junk she just let them roam around. Don't forget she is also dying of cancer. Her family thought it was time for her to get the house clean because it was not sanitary for her health.  The funny thing here is that she smokes! OK, we will clean and sanitize the house to help keep her healthy during her chemo treatments. Am I crazy or was none of her family willing to point out the elephant in the room besides all of the junk that is stacked to the ceilings. QUIT SMOKING!

Growing Like a Weed

I am a week behind, but Ross has reached the 8 month mark.  In no time we will have his first birthday. Time is flying by too fast! I thank God everyday that he has blessed us with such an awesome gift. Wow, when you think about it raising a child is a HUGE responsibility.

8 months
Another thought-It is up to Adam and I  to raise a well-behaved child. "LORD HELP US!" :O) I'm putting this in God's hands.

Randomness and Road Rage

It seems like I have not done much lately but "Wow" am I  tired.  I can't even remember what I did Monday and Tuesday, but definitely remember what I did Thursday.  I stayed up all night with a crying baby with fever. It was so hard to see him so upset, so when Friday came around and his fever was still up I decided it was time to go to the doctor. Thank goodness we went, because we would have had to make a trip to the ER before the weekend was over. Ross has his first ear infection.  It's amazing what the right medicine will do for a sick baby!
Friday night we were up at 3:50 so I just did not go back to sleep because I had to be ready to leave at 6:00am. to go Racing for a Cure.  I thought I would beat traffic, but  everybody had the same idea.  As I am waiting to exit in bumper-to-bumper traffic this car wants me to let them cut in line. OK, I don't think so. I've been waiting patiently as have the other 400 cars behind me, and you think you can just cut in line while everybody else waits...I DON'T THINK SO!  So being the nice person I am (I really am a nice person, but this really gets on my nerves ) I got as close to the car in front of me as possible so they could not cut in line. Needless to say I had a little road rage moment.  Then I thought, "Averie, that could have been a cancer survivor trying to get to the Race for the Cure. That wasn't the Christian thing to do!" This is something I will have to work on in the future, but man it is so irritating!

Anyway, the race was awesome. I was amazed at the people and their enthusiastic supporting spirit!!! I wasn't able to get a picture of myself since Adam stayed home to babysit. But I did find this picture taken by Go! Running in Little Rock.  I'm the girl in the back not looking at the camera, because I was visiting with a new friend I made while waiting!!!

Can't wait until next year!
